Story of Anil Kumar From Khanna (Punjab)

Many people jump into the ocean of bodybuilding but very few actually move further to a distance and reach an Island. Some people take a “U-Turn” and move back from where they started, leaving the dream of becoming a bodybuilder behind and opt the easy life where they work and do a job for 8 hours for a handful of cash. These people are not cowards or weak, but they just don’t have that strong interest, and love for bodybuilding which some successful bodybuilders have.

Few men in this sport are called “seriously mad”. They are those who can never let go the passion they have for the game. They can never leave the dream of becoming an extraordinary bodybuilder for an ordinary life. They are not only ready for any kind of sacrifice for the game but also ready to face the criticism from the society.

These men, so called serious bodybuilders, join job for 8 hours to support their family but spend extra 2-3 hours every day chasing their dream body. They prefer protein shake rather than buying new clothes on Diwali and other festivals. They don’t buy glittering mobile phones or branded watches they are worried about the budget of their boiled eggs and chicken breast for the next whole month. They manage to wear their torn shoes for few more months because that might upset their budget planning.

They constantly look for extra work, some “Part time job” to meet their family and their bodybuilding needs. They eat tasteless food for years and always look in mirror with unsatisfied eyes and speak in their mind “I need to work harder”. One can never understand the sacrifice and the dedication of a bodybuilder unless he/she try to do the same for few months. This is a hard game, and when you are in India, IT IS THE HARDEST.

About Anil Kumar

Anil Kumar son of Kushal Chand from city Khanna (Punjab) doesn’t remember when actually the seed of passion started growing in his heart for bodybuilding, what he remember today is criticism by a senior bodybuilder, saying “You can never be a bodybuilder son, save your money and do something else”.

He said “I had the little fire inside me heart, to be a district or state level champion but when he said I cannot do it, it was like Petrol was put on that little fire”, he added “I was burning inside out and was not able to sleep for many days. I use to think he is a senior player and he might help me achieve the level I crave for. He was my hope, like a student looking at his master and thinking my master has all the answers but he refused to teach me anything and the best suggestion he had for me was to leave this dream and do something else”.

Anil Kumar later participated in many bodybuilding championships and one day he got the chance to share the stage with that same senior bodybuilder who once refused to teach him. He was confident on the stage and had the belief in him that he would win over his senior. His senior asked him with “why did you come in this body weight segment?” Anil said “My body weight falls under this category and I have to participate accordingly, I can’t help it”.

That was the greatest of all the victories he ever won, he won the contest leaving his senior guru (once upon a time) at the second place. Anil Kumar the 1980 born handsome bodybuilder made many victories after that. He won Mr. Ludhiana, Mr. Punjab many times, participated Mr. North India, Mr. India and Mr. Asia.

He is a Gym Owner, a father, a coach and a good reputed citizen of the city Khanna. Today Anil’s “The Karan Gym” is known to produce many athletes every year with great symmetry and wonderful conditioning. These beautiful physique boys participate in the competitions like Mr. Ludhiana, Mr. Punjab and Mr. North India. Boys from nearby villages and places around Khanna visit Anil Kumar everyday to learn more about bodybuilding and they touch his feet with respect and expect right guidance and teaching.

Anil Kumar tries to teach and help all his students equally but he never use the word “You cannot do it”. He said “If I will tell someone, you cannot do it, he will always have the grudge in his heart for me, even if he really cannot become a bodybuilder he will always remember that I told him that he cannot do it” he said he prefer motivating people and try to avoid negative sentences in front of his students because no one knows what type of potential someone is holding.

Anil started his gym in the year 2010 and today he has many students in his gym who are winning various championships
