Well, this is a matter of deep research but one thing that appears clearly is, “He always Plays Safe”. People who want to gain muscle mass want that achievement quick and fast and so they often look for short cuts, but THE CHAMP has different idea about it. He never over-do anything and always play safe. If you watch the workout of Phil heath you will find a more focused approach in every rep, in every set, rather than grunting with too much heavy weights.

People say Phil Heath is a man filled with ego, but when it comes to his workout you will find him doing his exercise “Without Ego”. Often times we find people in gym lifting heavy weights and boost their ego, showing others how desperately they are working out to gain muscle mass. Such people are very close to a “BAD SITUATION”, a situation where they may have to quit the gym for ever. One injury and you are done.  You may not be able to visit your loving gym ever again and your entire ego will be crushed on the floor.

Phil Heath never does that, some experts even claim that he never work-out on his 100% ability in the gym. He prefers selecting 70-80 percent of his maximum capability and work with that weight for reps between 8-12. He is a smart man and always leaves his ego out of the gym. General people “SHOW-OFF” every day in the gym, they make videos and click pictures of their HEAVY ASS workout to “SHOW-OFF” but Phil Heath shows-off only on the STAGE of Mr. Olympia after a year. Don’t be a “SHOW-ER” be a “GROW-ER”.

If you are lifting heavy you might say to yourself that I am working hard, I am dedicated and so I am suppose to improve, but one should remember that hardwork alone cannot win, you also have to add some spice of smart work and intelligence to achieve the impossible. If you have witnessed the Mr. Olympia or if you watch the contest on youtube, you will find how other bodybuilders improved this year. They were big and in best conditioning, some were bigger and better than PHIL HEATH but there was something that Phil Heath has but they lacked.

Winning a contest can be a difficult task but sustaining at the same level for many years is a much more challenging thing. Phil Knew that if he start over thinking about his win-lose obsession, he may get hurt by the stress hormones which can kill his victory. It is so difficult for a human being to control his mind along with his body in such a situation. Phil Heath not only worked hard and smart, he also trained his mind to work for his best.
